Music

Newtown Presbyterian Church believes that music is essential to the worship of God. Whether it’s the brilliant sound of the organ, the congregation united in song, or a children’s choir offering an anthem, music is central to worship at Newtown Presbyterian.

We have a number of music opportunities designed to meet every ability and skill level.  While a staff of 6 professional musicians leads music, the music program overall is composed of a growing group of dedicated volunteers.

If you have questions regarding any of our musical activities, please contact the church office.

Chancel Choir - Rehearses Thursday evenings 8-9:30pm and sings most Sunday mornings at both the 9am and 11:00am services.

Bell Choir - Rehearses Thursday evenings 7-8pm and plays periodically throughout the church year.

Handbell Quartet - Newtown Presbyterian’s Handbell Quartet provides an opportunity to expand upon the use of handbells as a tool for worship as well as explore a wider range of repertoire for the instrument. For the performer, it provides new challenges for even the most experienced ringers as well as an opportunity to work collaboratively, in the way that only a small ensemble can. If you are an experienced bell ringer and would like to work with the Newtown Presbyterian Handbell Quartet, please contact our Music Director.

Children’s Music - The children's choir meets Sunday mornings after Sunday School (10:00am) to learn fun and faithful songs to offer in worship occasionally throughout the year. The Youth Bell choir meets every Sunday at 5pm.
